The idea behind Secrid came about when Secrid owners, a married couple Rene & Marianne noticed the impending trend towards RFID credit cards amongst Dutch banks. Rene, an engineer has a background in Wi-Fi routers and decided with his wife Marianne, who has a background in fashion design that they would design a product that would house your credit cards & protect them from being scanned in the one unit. From this the Secrid card protector unit was born in October 2010. This product immediately went on to win a prestigious Red Dot design award and subsequently won many other design & aluminium guild awards.
